From 5th to 8th June 2007 it was held in Vigo (Galicia, Spain) the Simposium VERTIMAR-2007 with the aim of monitoring the research projects related to Prestige's oil spill, in particular those funded by the Strategic Action against Accidental Oil Spills, Spanish Ministry of Education and Science (Special Urgent Actions, VEM-2003 and VEM-2004 Projects, and Complementary Actions 2004). Together with the previous VERTIMAR-2005, it constitutes a forum where researchers from different fields and related to accidental marine oil spills can meet, present, discuss and transfer their projects' results.
130 researchers from around 50 institutions attended the Simposium and presented their research work in 67 oral communications and 69 posters.

The week before the Simposium there were two practical-theoretical workshops in the University of Vigo: "Methodology for studying fuel buried in the beaches" directed by Ana Bernabeu (Univ. Vigo) and "Oceanographic modelling and oil spill drift" directed by Carlos Souto (Univ. Vigo).

Technical organization of Symposium will be carried out by Technical Bureau of Marine Spills. Secretary tasks will be developed by Cidade Universitaria company, with head office in Vigo University Campus, and large experience in congress organization.

	Operational oceanography implementation on hydrocarbons spills.
	Fuel-oil distribution and dynamics in affected ecosystems.

	Spill socio-economic impact.

Scientific supervision of Symposium, registered people selection for practical workshops and selection of papers (oral conferences and posters) for the Symposium will be carried out by Scientific Coordination Commission, composed by the following members:
